PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) contains concentrated growth factors, that stimulate the regeneration processes of muscle tissues. It stimulates the renewal of damaged tendons, muscles, ligaments, cartilage and even bones, which is why it is successfully used in intra-articular and intra-tendinous therapy. Platelet-rich plasma improves and accelerates regeneration, and at the same time reduces swelling and the risk of infection, which shortens the recovery period.

To boost the results, there is an option to add collagen-type 1 to the PRP injection for an even better outcome.

Platelet-rich plasma is a concentration of platelets in a small amount of plasma prepared from the patient's blood. The process of obtaining it is based on centrifugation of the patient's blood collected, as a result of which it is separated into platelet-rich and poor plasma and red blood cells. It contains small amounts of various types of cytokines (growth factor, PDGF, TGF, VEGF, EGF) and proteins that are responsible for cell adhesion - fibronectin, fibrin and vitronectin. The concentrated growth ingredients contained in the preparation have properties that stimulate all tissue repair processes. They strongly stimulate the regeneration of damaged tendons, muscles, ligaments, cartilage and bones. These unusual aspects allow PRP preparations to be fully used, primarily in intra-articular and intratendinous therapy, because the plasma is intended to improve the regenerative potential of soft tissues (ligaments, tendons, muscles, etc.) and bone tissue.

Clinical work over the last several years has established the safety and usefulness of platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) for tissue repair and healing in joints resulting in reduced pain and improved function for many who have had this procedure. Platelet-rich plasma is an established treatment technique used to tighten and strengthen weak and damaged ligaments and tendons which are believed to cause pain and instability. It is also used to decrease pain and improve function.

Indications:

- knee pain in osteoarthritis

- rheumatoid arthritis (not in an acute phase)

- shoulder pain

- rotator cuff sprain

- impingement syndrome

- rotator cuff tendinitis

- osteoarthritis (shoulder)

- adhesive capsulitis (aka “frozen shoulder”)

- Tennis elbow

- carpal tunnel syndrome

Benefits:

- improving tissue regeneration

- acceleration of soft tissue and bone healing

- reduction of swelling and the risk of infection

- shortening the recovery period

- high efficiency, up to 90%; (75% of patients see the difference after only 1 treatment)

- safety - platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy does not cause allergic reactions and infections; - minimal pain;

- short recovery period after the procedure

Contraindications:

- nucleotide allergies

- blood diseases (e.g. thrombocytopenia)

- systemic diseases: immunological vascular diseases, scleroderma

- patients treated with immunosuppression acute viral infection (HCV, HBS, HIV)

- chronic liver diseases

- sepsis

- anticoagulants

There is NO guarantee that a procedure will cure your pain, and in very rare cases, it could become WORSE, even when the procedure is performed in a technically perfect manner.

The degree and duration of pain relief varies from person to person, so after your procedure, we will re-evaluate your progress, and then determine if further treatment is necessary. Tell your practitioner if you are taking any blood thinners ie warfarin, as these can cause excessive bleeding.

Alternatives to the procedure include medications, physical therapy, acupuncture, surgery, etc.

The technique requires the injection of platelet-rich plasma derived from your blood. The sight of the injection is where the ligament or tendon attaches to the bone, at the joint capsule or inside the joint.

The second stronger option is to combine PRP with collagen Guna to the injection of the knee or shoulder

Collagen MD-KNEE is a medical device used to facilitate movement by reducing physiological degeneration of joints and tissues and balancing any damage caused by: aging processes, postural defects, coexisting chronic diseases, impacts and injuries pollution. MD-KNEE improves the mobility of the knee. Its main therapeutic effects include barrier effect, lubricating effect, and mechanical support when administering other medicinal pharmacological substances.

Collagen MD-SHOULDER is a medical device used to facilitate movement by reducing physiological degeneration of joints and tissues and balancing any damage caused by aging processes, postural defects, coexisting chronic diseases, impacts and injuries, and pollution. MD-SHOULDER is used to: improve motor functions of the arm and hand joints, help stretch muscles, strengthen muscle tissue, and relieve local pain and pain caused by movement.

NUMBER OF TREATMENTS

Treatment can be performed a maximum of three times over six months, but most patients feel relief after the first or second injection. The results may last up to 1.5 years

Side effects:
No guarantee or assurance is made regarding the results that may be obtained from the procedure/treatment. Specifically, risks identified, including, but are not limited to the following:
• Increased pain and allergic reaction from local anaesthetic
• Infection on the skin, tissue, bones, joints, discs, nerves, ligaments, possibly bloodstream (Sepsis),
• Nerve damage, tissue injury, tissue damage, temporary and permanent numbness and/or weakness, paralysis, spinal cord injury, urinary and/or faecal incontinence.
• Injection and fluid collection in the joint(s) may require antibiotic treatment, fluid aspiration and surgical interventions.

Aftercare

  • Do not use compresses or press the area where the plasma was injected

  • Avoid exercise for at least 2 days, excessive exposure to the sun and places with a high risk of infections (swimming pools, saunas and gyms)

  • Keep the treated area dry for 24 hrs

  • If you require a painkiller use only Paracetamol (you cannot use Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aspirin and other NSAID)

  • Follow up-2-4 weeks post procedure
